Couples Counseling

Couples counseling assists you and your partner with overcoming the inevitable hurdles within your relationship to help you to improve communication and understanding. Issues such as infidelity, conflict over money, jealousy, and sexual difficulties can be addressed in a supportive, therapeutic environment. Counseling sessions focus on ensuring that both partners' needs are met

Pre-Assessment for couple's counseling. You want to go to therapy, but don't know where to start. Pre-assessments can help  determine your specific needs, areas of focus, and optimism in your relationship.  The couple will be seen together to discuss the nature of their relationship. In another session, the couple will be seen as individuals to determine individual motivate levels. After meeting with each person individually, the couple will join together to determine how and if therapy is appropriate for them. These sessions will be based on a collaborative and/or solution-focused model of therapy.

Healing From Narcissistic Abuse

Any relationship where both partners are generally focused on only one partner's emotions and well being can be described as toxic.  Have you ever been in a toxic relationship?  The damage from being in one can be deep and long lasting. The toxicity seeps inside and slowly erodes our sense of self, until we find ourselves questioning who we are or what happened to our confidence.  We eventually begin to experience anxiety, which depletes our resources and energy.  Running low on energy turns into depression and apathy. The primary goal of toxic people, no matter what the symptom cluster, personality disorder or manipulative tactics used, is to control others in order to stabilize their own world.  Being around someone like this does damage to the psyche, making it necessary to draw boundaries and heal.

Warning Signs:
  • Decreased self-confidence
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-blame
  • Distrust
  • Loss of friends
  • Decreased interest in things that used to be fun
  • Presumed memory loss
  • Confusion or inability to make decisions
  • Overwhelming sense of guilt or obligation
  • Increased sense of fear

Groups, Workshops & Retreats

Group Therapy. Some people find that they are most comfortable with a group of other people who are struggling with the same issues. A sense of support and accountability results as people share their challenges and triumphs with other group members. Group sessions are held in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate your schedule.

Art Therapy  can be beneficial in developing interpersonal skills, managing emotions, and increasing self-esteem.  Connecting with the arts has a positive impact on health overall by allowing us to explore and express our feelings, a necessary process of understanding and managing emotions.  Emotions can become charged and deeply buried without proper resolution through expression and awareness. It is exactly the negatively charged and hidden emotions that wreak havoc on our psyche, mind and body.  Grounding ourselves in the present moment is vital to our emotional health. In the engagement of art we are centered and able to connect with our truest selves.  In our retreats you are encouraged to explore personal experiences. Taking the risk of self-exploration in a safe and supported environment can provide some of the greatest steps in healing along your journey.
