Victoria Short
MS, CMHC Intern
My background is in criminal justice and hospital-based care, and I enjoy supporting adolescents and adults navigating life transitions. I approach therapy collaboratively, integrating creative arts and evidence-based practices like CBT, Choice Therapy, mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing to help clients transform challenges into growth.
I am an intern through the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University graduating with my master’s degree later this year. I have a background in criminal justice and in the hospital setting. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who are working through life transitions.
I approach time with clients in a collaborative way and focus on both the uniqueness of the client and their specific needs. No one person is the same and each of us approach life differently. I enjoy using creative arts in my counseling and exploring how they can be used in day-to-day life. Trauma affects every aspect of our lives. I utilize the framework that we can both change our responses and make choices that cause trauma to be a building block towards a fruitful life. During sessions I use aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality/Choice Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
