Inner Source Therapy is more than a counseling practice. This is a space for meaningful transformation.
We believe that beneath almost all struggles there remains an inner source of resilience and wisdom. Our work is not to fix you, but to help you reconnect with that source.
Our North Carolina–based team provides trauma-informed, attachment-informed, and integrative care using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, TF-CBT, Expressive Arts, somatic and relational therapies. We focus on addressing root patterns, not just symptoms, so that change is lasting and deeply grounded.
We support individuals, couples, adolescents, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, relationship challenges, and identity growth. Our collaborative team model ensures that each client benefits from the shared wisdom and consultation of experienced clinicians.
We believe healing happens in safe relationships. That addiction is adaptive, not identity. That the body and nervous system hold wisdom. And that growth is possible at any stage of life.
You are not broken.
Healing is a return to balance, clarity, and your authentic self.
Each individual is unique and not all approaches work the same for everyone. Your treatment will be specifically tailored to your needs and personality. We have consistently found that the most effective approach with the longest lasting results involves targeting the root source. Usually a combination of evidenced based modalities are used together to address different issues. Some of the different practices we use the most include:.
EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based approach that often leads to profound healing and lasting change for those impacted by trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Rather than only talking through the past, EMDR helps the brain and nervous system safely reprocess painful memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or emotionally charged. Many clients experience deep shifts—finding relief, renewed resilience, and a greater sense of freedom and peace. EMDR supports healing at the root, allowing what once felt stuck to soften, integrate, and transform.
Expressive Arts Therapy offers a gentle yet powerful way to access healing beyond words. This approach is not about being “good at art” or creating something perfect—it is about engaging the emotional and creative centers of the brain to reach experiences that talk therapy alone may not fully access. Through guided use of art, movement, writing, or other creative modalities, clients of all ages are able to process feelings in a deeper, more embodied way. Expressive Arts can help unlock stuck emotions, integrate trauma, and foster insight and self-compassion to supporting healing that feels both authentic and transformative.
Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based therapy that helps access and heal trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain stored deep within the nervous system. By identifying specific “brainspots”—eye positions connected to unresolved experiences—this modality allows the brain and body to process what may be difficult to reach through talk therapy alone. Brainspotting supports profound emotional release, regulation, and integration, often leading to meaningful shifts in how clients feel both internally and in their daily lives. It is a gentle yet deeply effective approach that helps the body’s natural healing wisdom emerge, creating space for lasting transformation and resilience.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, unhelpful thought patterns can keep us feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, or self-doubt. CBT offers tools to gently challenge these patterns and replace them with healthier, more supportive ways of thinking and responding. This approach can bring clarity, empowerment, and meaningful change, helping clients build resilience, develop coping skills, and move forward with greater confidence and emotional balance.
SITCAP® is a trauma-focused, sensory-based approach designed to help children, adolescents, and adults heal from the effects of overwhelming experiences. Because trauma is often stored in the body and nervous system and not just in memory, SITCAP gently engages sensory and structured activities to help regulate emotions, restore a sense of safety, and process difficult experiences in a developmentally appropriate way. This approach is especially powerful for children and families, offering tools that help parents support their child’s healing while also tending to their own. By working with the body and the brain together, SITCAP fosters resilience, emotional regulation, and deeper recovery across all ages.
Motivational Interviewing is a compassionate, client-centered approach that helps individuals explore change with clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. Rather than pushing or prescribing solutions, MI honors your autonomy and gently guides you in uncovering your own motivations, values, and strengths. This approach is widely recognized as a preferred and highly effective method in the treatment of addiction, as it supports individuals in resolving ambivalence and strengthening their commitment to meaningful change. Through collaborative conversation and deep listening, Motivational Interviewing fosters empowerment, resilience, and lasting transformation, guided by what matters most to you.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals build emotional balance, resilience, and healthier ways of coping with intense feelings. DBT is especially effective for those who experience overwhelming emotions, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, or patterns of self-harm. Through a blend of acceptance and change, DBT teaches practical skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach offers both structure and support, helping clients feel more grounded, empowered, and able to navigate life’s challenges with greater stability and self-compassion.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, deeply transformative approach that helps individuals understand and heal the different “parts” within themselves. We all carry inner experiences such as wounded parts shaped by trauma, protective parts that work hard to keep us safe, and the deeper core Self that holds wisdom, compassion, and clarity. IFS invites us to meet these parts with curiosity rather than judgment, creating space for healing at the root. This modality is especially powerful for trauma recovery, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm, supporting greater inner harmony, self-compassion, and a renewed sense of wholeness from within.
Beginning couples therapy can feel like a big step. More couples than ever are choosing therapy as a way to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and work through barriers that naturally build over time.
It’s normal to feel unsure about what therapy will involve, wondering how much will be shared, whether sessions might become tense, or if the therapist will take sides. EFT offers a safe, structured space where both partners are heard with care and respect. Rather than focusing on blame, this approach helps uncover the deeper emotional patterns beneath conflict and disconnection.
Emotionally Focused Therapy is a research-based method that supports couples in rebuilding trust, deepening connection, and creating lasting emotional intimacy.
Acupuncture is a holistic, evidence-informed treatment that supports both physical and emotional well-being by working directly with the nervous system. While often associated with pain relief, acupuncture is also a powerful modality for addressing stress, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns.
From a physiological perspective, acupuncture helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, which is the system responsible for our stress and relaxation responses. It can reduce the body’s “fight, flight, or freeze” patterns while promoting a state of rest, safety, and repair. This shift allows the body to move out of chronic stress and into a more regulated, balanced state.
For individuals navigating trauma, including PTSD and chronic stress, acupuncture offers a gentle, body-based approach to healing. Trauma is not only stored in thoughts and memories, but also in the body. Acupuncture can help support emotional regulation without requiring clients to verbally process their experiences.
This makes acupuncture a valuable complement to trauma-focused mental health care, including therapy and counseling. When used alongside talk therapy, it can help clients feel more grounded, present, and resourced.
At Inner Source Therapy, acupuncture is offered as part of a collaborative, integrative approach to care. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, burnout, trauma-related symptoms, or simply feeling overwhelmed, acupuncture can be a supportive tool in restoring balance, resilience, and overall well-being.

In seasons of anxiety, grief, trauma, or transition, it’s easy to feel uprooted—disconnected from your body, your breath, your faith, or your sense of belonging. We believe in healing the mind, body, and soul through holistic, trauma-informed approaches that gently address the roots of what feels overwhelming, not just the symptoms on the surface.
Therapy can be a mindful return to center. Our work is grounded in presence and guided by practices that support deep integration, including EMDR, Expressive Arts, individual, couples, family, and group therapy, acupuncture, and other trauma-informed modalities. Each approach is chosen with intention, honoring the wisdom of the nervous system and the quiet guidance within your spirit.
Like a garden, healing unfolds in its own time. With compassion, steady support, and intentional care, what feels heavy can soften. What feels lost can be gently rediscovered.
All components of life are interconnected and typically small adjustments in one or a few areas have profound effects on your overall quality of life. Finding your optimal balance is a personal process and each individual requires a unique and tailored methodology.
Whether your path is rooted in faith, spirituality, or simply a longing for deeper connection, you are welcome here exactly as you are.
